Hop Rocks is our year-round West Coast IPA. Brewed with Amarillo, Mosaic, and Chinook hops, Hop Rocks (7% abv) features a massively dank and piney aroma with hints of grapefruit and apricot, and a resiny and crisp body with an unrestrained bitterness.

Warm gold color and nearly clear. Modest but long-lasting head which leaves a combination of blanket and webs.
More hop than malt although both are present. The malt portion is pale with a touch of graininess. The hop is peppery. Typical west coast.
Smooth but neutral body and the carbonation is elevated. Like the smell, this leans bitter. There’s a subtle vegetal background. The malt is brief, dry, and similar to unsalted barley and yet not grainy. The hop is similar to the pepper in pepper steak. It isn’t too strong but definitely the most dominant feature.

SS gifted me this and the glass on my birthday. An excellent present from my Worcester friend. Being a New Englander rarely do I indulge in the west coast ipa segment, but as it was a gift I must. It also helps that it is a Massachusetts brewery. Boasting a beautiful caramel brown color with no haze and a white top, this screams west coast style. Scent is hoppy and it’s definitely got some hoppiness but also a sweet malty taste that is missed from east coast IPAs. It also has a hint of melon. A smooth drinking light bodied feel for a 7% beer. A really nice kickstart beer before the Bs game!

No way to know how fresh this is because there's no date to be found anywhere on the can. Pours a cloudy, peach-like yellow with a smallish head that fades to a ring of foam. I"m not getting much from the aroma, it's rather subtle. Taste wise, I don't get any pine or classic west coast IPA notes. There's a bit of dank fruitiness that I can't quite describe that's followed by a some lingering bitterness on the tongue.
Overall, not a bad drinking beer but not a great one either; I'd really like to know how fresh it was. I had never seen it at my local before so I'm assuming it was pretty fresh.
