STEVE VAI BEER STEVE VAI BEER
Given the can art, this was the perfect choice for a guitar playing beer drinker to enjoy on Valentine's day!
16 oz can poured into a tulip glass.
Pours a murky, light orange with light sediment and produces a 1 finger white head, quickly dissipating and leaving a few lines of splotching.
Initial aroma is tart, with some raspberry and faint citrus, not able to find much.
(Disclaimer, it's been probably 6 years since I've tasted grains of paradise and I can't recall the taste)
Initial taste before swallowing is malt and tart.
After swallowing I first get sweet malt and grapefruit flesh, followed by a yogurt taste and full feeling, followed by grapefruit pith bitterness melding with a pleasant and mild earthiness and a brief sweetness. A light grassiness develops in the finish and diminishes while mild raspberry remains.
Feel is decently thick, and somewhat juicy. Carbonation can be rejuvenated through agitation, and feels tingly, which fits grapefruit well in my mind.
First of all, for the love of god more breweries need to use uncommon ingredients like grains of paradise! Overall I love this. It's just very smooth, very coherent, and extremely pleasant. I could see myself drinking 1 or 2 on a late evening, seems like a good one to drink while on the phone with a close friend.
I'll buy this again.
