Can stamped "09/09/2019" on the bottom along with "King Hippo" (I'm not into video games but judging by the label of the can, I'm guessing that has something to do with that.
This was poured into a becher pint glass.
The appearance was a beautiful dark brown close to black color in the glass and yielded a fantastic looking one finger tan foamy head softly dissolving to leave some messy lace.
The aroma had a wonderful blend of roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, dark toast, bitter resinous piney hops and a light whiff of citrus rind deeper below.
The flavor keeps a wonderful balance between all of the prior mentioned aromas - roasty, toasty, semi-sweet with a substantial bitterness. Mild roasty dark toasty aftertaste punching some bitter pine.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sipping quality about it. Appropriate carbonation. More bitter harshness than smoothness, but seemingly enough - just a touch of smoothness. Finishes roasty, dark chocolate and semi-bitter.
Overall, I really like this one! To me, it seemed like it was done well to style as it did provide enough palate wrecking capabilities to make sure my beer drinking ended for the night.
