Bottom of the can stamped "12/10/19." Well, uhmmm, it is a porter so I guess this isn't too late, right? Well, here goes.
This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a nice dark brown close to black color with a off white semi-tan foamy head settling nicely to small bouts of roaming lace caking nicely around the glass.
The aroma keyed up strong whiffs of roasted coffee beans and grounds initially but allowing some semi-sweet cake/donut character underneath. Dark chocolate then an ever so slight touch of maple sweetness.
The flavor leaned towards the roasty end at first but seemed to open up and embrace a semi-sweet and flowing donut to maple-like gentle tone. Some lean roasty dry to dark toasty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel felt pretty good. I'd say between light and medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about due to some dryness invoking some roasty/toasty grip on my tongue. Nice carbonation. Finishes with a roasty coffee/nutty clench, semi-clean but firm.
Overall, I'd say nice enough porter leaning towards the American side adding a touch of unique creativity I'd want to have again.
