Tasting notes recorded Nov. 2011 from a bottle bought last summer (a surprising find at the Belgian beer museum in Lustin) with Dec. 2011 consume-by date. Served at cellar temp into tulip. Old gold and surprisingly thin looking on its way in, it still proved rather opaque, lee-flecked and viscous-looking in the glass, under a big, loudly crackling two fingers of sabayon-colored mousse head, which wilted slowly. Some hop character and toast in the nose with a woodsy ferny smell, along with apricots and cherries. Root beerish, caramel-y, citrus tartness, and even a sour note, good cleansing hop on the back end, complex and varying. Mouthfeel is thinner than it looks, inert.

I bought this beer in Adegem at the Bierloods. Vacas is the owner and he opened the shop for us in the evening so that we could buy some beers.
My eye fell on this bottle. Brouwerij De Lelie made beers untill 1952 in Vosselaar. Production stopped then and somewhere in 2009 this was brewed and botteled at the Scheldebrouwery as a tribute.
Best before date is december 2010, wow a bit over date, let's hope this beer is still drinkable.
Poured in my Struise glass is seems this beer is still drinkable. Four fiongers of head and a darkyellow fluid with light carbonation.
Smell of koriander. Taste is good but not specatcular, maybe the bottle is too far gone. Malty and hoppy beer.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
