A: Deep hazy tangerine orange has a pillowy 2+ inch spongey white head that had a lengthy hold. Strong scattered lace marks line the vessel. The coloring sells it here, a deep haze factor that words do little to justify. Some macro yeasty floaties add to the visual.
S: Lots of green melon and fresh wet pears. Semi-dry tropical with a touch of cantaloupe. Wet greenery for hops of modest strength.
T: The flavor delivered a dank tropical thirst, orange-pear citrusy nature with prickly hops of grassy herbal. Hints of lemon drop and grapefruit with some citrus-grassiness hops and herbal mint grapefruit. Some stone fruit with a dank tropical that was heavy handed. Tangerine peach with a slight bitter leave of grassy herbal fade.
M: Full, creamy wheat, yet softly eloquent.
O: Overall dank tropical on another level with dank citrusy herbal notes make this a huge ipa offering a blend of flavors that was both bold and spicy making you come back for more. A dank hoppy smoothie.

Pillow Top from Froth Brewing. 16 fl oz can. $ 4.00 (Including tax), $ 0.25/fl oz. Picked up at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. Reviewed 09/01/25 (Review 3441). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Stored in reefer at the distributor, at 39 degrees F at home. Served at 41.5 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 49.2 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), hazy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, glows yellow.
Head: Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), white, frothy. Slowly drops to a 0.5 – 0.7 cm crown fed by carbonation and has a large, rocky island.
Lacing – Excellent! Bands of jagged lacing appear as the head begins to retract. These bands follow as the volume drops.
Aroma – 4 – Begins with strong generic citrus and tropical fruit. No yeast, no ethanol (8,2 % ABV, as marked on label). No disulfide or diacetyl.
Flavor – 4 – Follows the nose – citrusy and sweet tropical fruits, mashed together. No yeast, no ethanol. No disulfides, no diacetyl. Slightly bitter with faint gastric warming.
Palate – 4 – Medium; approaching creamy; lively but soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) Very pleasing DDH hazy (NE) IPA – not too bitter and decently citrusy/tropical fruity. I would definitely drink this again.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Hazy, straw colored body. Three fingers of bright white head, and leaves behind lacing webs as it recedes. Some semblance of a head all the way to the bottom.
Aroma is orange, grapefruit, papaya, and has a bit of pencil eraser, along with a presence of pine.
Taste has ice cream hops, with flavors of melon, orange, lemon, lime, and papaya. The pencil eraser appears here too, along with a bit of vanilla. The pine resin is absent, but woody hops are present. Soft hops continue into the aftertaste.
More than medium mouthfeel, with a soft texture. Has a dry finish from the heavy hops. Excellent carbonation.
A higher ABV% heavily hopped hazy IPA that is not too sweet.

I am trying this beer off the tapper at the brewery as part of a four sample flight. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had guava and mango notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright sweet malt base with guava, mango, and papaya presence. The mouthfeel was fuller in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

No canning date, but social media would indicate an 8/29/21 release date.
Opaque yellow with one finger of off-white head, that leaves a thin ring, and a few spots of lacing. orange
Smell is peach pie filling, white grape, kiwi, slight blood orange , and some doughy malt.
Taste is dried peach, galia melon, orange marmalade, light dried/sweetened pineapple, light filo dough, and finishing with moderately-prominent noble hop-type spiciness.
Feel is medium and juicy, with very, very fine carbonation tingle/burn that comes in on the latter half . Drying finish that leaves the front of the tongue feeling slightly sanded-off.
Overall , well-balanced, and easy-drinking. I like the unusual combo of stone fruit, citrus, and noble hop spiciness.

I thought it was a nice smooth IPA. I didn’t even get that it was an imperial IPA. The hops definitely aren’t overpowering, but I could have used a little more mouth feel.

I liked the first two from the other day, so trying another Froth offering: Pillow Top. Canned 03/19/20. DDH IPA 8.2% ABV with cashmere, Citra, and azacca hops. Nose is pretty subdued. First sips are slightly pithy orange rind, followed by some guava middle, then finishes with a wee bit of grapefruit. It’s pretty good, though not as unique as the Sourbet. It’s pricey at around $17 for a 4-pack of pints, but I’ll invest a little more to keep trying to find their flagship (IMHO). Something about alcohol in IPAs escapes me...it’s always laying low to me. I’m so used to big dark beers that shove booziness in my face. Any way, this one is good, but for the price vs awesomeness, it would not be a regular buy for me.
