Must have been unretired with a changed recipe. On tap at the Corner Pub 3/23/08. This beer was nothing like the one described by DPD....too bad, his version sounded nice!

A-Copper with a medium tan head the left nice lacing.

S-Sweet malts with a faint wisp of piney/citrus hops. Smells way too sweet.

T-The aroma is the taste...SWEET caramel malts followed by a decent bitter twang from the hops...way to malt forward for me. Little to no astringency detected from the rye malt.

M-Medium body. Quite sticky from all that malt...some hop bitterness in the aftertaste.

D-Not bad, gets better as it warms...but still too malty for me in the end. Bring back to old recipe!

Only four half barrels of this stuff were ever made. Three went to the Hideaway in Chaseburg and one went on tap for me at the Corner Pub in Reedsburg. This beer was brewed to the specifications of the Hideaway owner. We can only hope that he convinces the Corner Pub to brew some more.

Appearance: Bright copper orange with excellent carbonation streaming. Head is a thick khaki surf foam with outstanding, chunky lacing. A flawless looking beer. Just gorgeous.

Aroma: Hops. Big Golding and even bigger citrusy Cascade. Plenty of flowers and some pine. Enough to make be burp hops for an hour after drinking a pint.

Taste: Awesome. Just like one of my favorite west coast beers, Hop Rod Rye from Bear Republic. Rye bread and hop juice. Grapefruit and sweet bread. Spice.

MF: Silky. Very pleasurable to drink. Great bitter finish. Creamy too.

D: Through the roof. Sessionable in mass.

Just a fantastic beer.
