On tap at the brewpub in Reedsburg. Pours an amber color with a soapy rim of off white head that leaves moderate lacings.
Aroma is of garlic salt with a touch of herbs up front, with little to no malt or hop presence. Quite odd in the nose, like a piece of garlic bread with too much salt on it.
Taste is of light salt and mild herbs, on the palate with a bit of bittering hops on the back of the palate. No real brewing character can be found, even through the herbs.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a salty and effervescent character and a finish of residual salt and a touch of cilantro.
Drinkability is decent. The brew is a bit too salty with a garlic-bread type character overall, similar to a mixture between Fraoch Heather Ale and the infamous Pizza Beer. A bit less salt could make this a notable herbed beer that would pair quite well with some Italian food, but it would definitely be an acquired taste. Worth a try for the sheer oddity of it.
