Bought from Bacchanalia, Mill Road, Cambridge and blind-tasted excl. the name/style/ABV%.
L- Quite a yellow golden colour, pours with a slight haze and a thin 1mm white ring of bubbles.
S- Quite light, I thought I got the briefest scent of a soft citrus note.
T- Quite hoppy-dry, and that builds. Malts build too next. Leaving a balance of quite pungent dry hops on the palate plus a meaty-malty under-pinning so give the palate a facet of rewarding richness. There is a facet of something aromatic going on too, pine resin, conifer, perfumey citrus? It's too subtle for my senses to pin down.
F- It's interesting in that is has the malty oomph of a Bock whilst having the presumably hops-driven floral/perfume note of a more contemporary brew. The hops create a dry zing that lingers on my palate like no trad brew or Bock does. But importantly that happens within balance of the malts.
O- I like it, as something a bit different that does it with some delicacy; a contemporary twist on an historic classic style.
