Pint pour on draught at the brewery. It pours a murky, dirty pastel yellow color with a thin, foamy, milk-white head and lacing. The nose is fragrant with bright orange/tangerine, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, and floral hops. The flavor is big, bold, and quite sweet, opening with orange, peach, and tropical fruit, balanced by tart lemon and grapefruit rind. There is also an earthy, slightly sweet, malt backbone and, as it warms, notes of cannabis from the Columbus and Strata hops. It finishes decidedly bitter with a touch of spicy astringency. The mouth feel of this ale is super thick, creamy, and plush I usually use the adjective "chewy" when reviewing a stout but it applies here. Untied really nails mouth feel on its DIPAs. The carbonation level is appropriate and the 8.3% ABV gives it a nice kick. Overall, Whatever it Takes is a big, fruity, New England IPA. It's a little on the sweet side but really well done.
