Can dated 5/30/24. DFH tulip.
A: pours a slightly hazed brassy gold with one finger of compact bright white head. Numerous streams of small, lazy bubbles flow up from the bottom of the glass. Not as clear as it should be.
S: a little cold, but smells bready and sweet. Not as sweet as the Dortmunder I had last night but a familiar Pilsner malt honey sweetness. I’d say this is spot on to style.
T: arrives with that bready character, but not as sweet on the palate as on the nose. Malty, for sure, with a bready, honeyed character, but lacking the overt sweetness it had on the nose. Right at the end, you get a hit of those melanoidins, a sweetness in the back of your throat- not on the tongue, and then the slightest hint of a noble hop bitterness. Just enough to finish clean, really no detectable hop note. The BJCP guidelines call it a “suggestion of sweetness,” and I’d say that is spot on. A soft and dry finish is exactly how I’d describe this.
M: medium body and medium carbonation, smooth. Right to style.
O: I had this a couple of years ago, and thought it was the best Munich Helles I’d had by an Ohio brewery. But for whatever reason, I didn’t buy it again until now. Well now I’d say it is definitely the best Ohio Helles, probably the best Ohio lager, and a serious contender for the best domestic Helles I’ve had. The only knock on it is the slight haziness, but that can be forgiven. This is a must buy lager, and I’ll definitely buy buying six.

12 FL. OZ. can
Served in a can glass
This beer pours pale yellow and hazy. It is topped with an inch of beige head that leaves spotty lacing.
I smell some lemongrass and a little steeped grain.
Grass and grain flavor
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
Solid lager

I'm trying this at the brewery. It poured a clear golden with white head that left some lace. The scent had faint grain notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain and dough presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.
