3 weeks old. Can to pint glass.

Look: Full hazy yellow with a thick and stable foamy head. No floaters.

Smell: Grapefruits. Clove. Hints of banana. Hoppy. Fruity, but not overly sweet.

Taste: Fresh citrus fruits, mainly grapefruit. Also grapefruit peel. Zesty. Bitterness all the way with a sharp but dry finish.

Feel: Full and mouthcoating. Slightly creamy. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Solid Weizenbock with a beautiful look, nice smell and great mouthfeel. Quite heavy on the hops. Could use a bit more sweetness. Bitterness and sharp zesty notes are a bit overpowering making the brew slightly unbalanced.

Pours a hazy, bright orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, slightly bready malt and tropical/citrus hops, with slight hints of esters also coming through. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, slightly bready malt and fruity, slightly floral and resinous hops, with notes of mango, papaya, pineapple and grapefruit, as well asjust a hint of pine and some estery accents of banana and clove. Finishes with a light bitterness and some mango, grapefruit, pine and estery accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While this "DDH Weizenbock" certainly wasn't what I expected, I must have missed the "DDH" part, it did grow on me as I drank it. While this is still a lot closer to a NEIPA than a Weizenbock, the style description does show through here with a slightly breadier malt presence and quite subtle accents of fruity and spicy esters. It's still very much dominated by those tropical and, to a lesser extend, citrus and pine notes though, so if it's an actual Weizenbock you're after, I'd stay clear of this. For what it is sthough, a heavily dry-hopped example of the style, it actually makes for an interesting drinking experience, although it's much closer to a NEIPA compared to something like Schneider's Hopfenweisse.
