Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of light biscuity malt and tropical/citrus/berry hops, with notes of mango, papaya, grapefruit and just a hint of white grape. Taste is an excellent balance of light biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, herbal, bitter and slightly spicy hops, with tropical, citrus and lighter berry notes of mango, papaya, grapefruit, lime peel and white grape, as well as just a hint of black pepper. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some mango, grapefruit and herbal accents lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A very nice New England IPA that's a bit on the bitter and herbal side, with these notes forming a great contrast to the juicy tropical and zesty citrus notes, which are rather vibrant and well-defined here. I can always appreciate a NEIPA that has a bit more character than just being a fruit salad and this certainly fits the bill. Brewed with "The Bruce" a pre-blended hop mixture of NZ hops, which was a new thing to me. Overall, this makes for an enjoyable NEIPA with a good mix of fruity, juicy and bitter, herbal notes.
