Pours a hazy, orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and citrus, tropical, stone fruit hops, with notes of grapefruit, mango and apricot, as well as hints of vanilla. Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt and fruity, juicy, slightly herbal and resinous hops, with citrus, tropical and stone fruit notes of grapefruit, mango and apricot, as well as hints of black tea, pine and vanilla. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, mango, black tea, pine and vanilla lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
This makes for a rather interesting New England IPA aged on oak chips, which really bring out distinct notes of vanilla here. The Idaho 7 hops are very distinct as well, bringing those typical notes of herbal black tea and resinous pine, with Citra and Mosaic providing the fruity citrus and tropical accents. I really like the way the vanilla, black tea and pine wotk together here, which works a lot better than it may sound. The hops are pretty juicy and vibrant, with the oak chips providing a really nice second layer to this.
