Have you ever wondered what really makes up an atom? If not, no worries. One theoretical particle is called a quark. What we do know is that it is one of the fundamental parts of the atom. Similarly, the classic English best bitter is a classic beer that help defines the larger category of English Bitter Ales. Stuck in between an original bitter and an ESB, the best bitter is moderately malty with a balance bitterness provided by an English hop. Our Quark is made from the classic English base malt, Maris Otter, and hopped with English Fuggle hops. Caramel and Munich malts help provide the classic caramel and nuttiness that is come to be expected in this classic English Beverage.

Spreading their wings far and wide, the brewers at Fusion Brewing show their adeptness at British beer making with an English styled pale ale that hits the style with no gimmicks or glam.
Pouring with an expected chestnut haze, the foamy, ivory cap shows persistence, longevity and lace. Its comforting aromas are slightly fruity with hint of marzipan and dates upon a nutty, caramelized base of granola. Tasting much the same, those granola flavors deconstruct to form caramel, honey, toasted pecan and the whimsical British taste of shorbread.
As the sweetness slowly relaxes, more of the cashew, pecan and toasted grain character broadens out in a nearly butterscotch kind of way. Gentle hops have a gentle floral upstart but quickly transitions to a woodsy spice and a striking parsley tone. All the while the estery overcast of marmalade, date and light grape play delicately in the recesses of taste.
Medium bodied and malt forward, the beer isn't without hop balance. Its firm hop spice offsets the residual malts while adding complex and complementary flavors in much the same way that many traditional brands do made in England. A medium length aftertaste of fruit and spice extend slightly beyond the sweetness.
