Pours a hazy yellow. Very bright coloration. A finger of head that dissipates quickly.
Nose is citrus forward. Lemon, orange. Some tropical notes but definitely more in the background. Strong grass notes. You can always tell when Citra is at the party.
Tropical notes are stronger in the taste. Citrus is much less now. Grassy hop quality persists. Much like Musket Haze the hop flavor fades rather quickly to the malt profile. I'm not quite sure what causes that. The flavor is initially strong and impactful, but drops off hard.
Mouthfeel is a little weak. Thin-medium bodied with mild carbonation. A tad disappointing.
I've had a few of Hackensack brews and this is definitely a step in the right direction. It's good to see a local brewery who has strong potential, but just needs to tighten they're craft. Their stouts are better than average but the IPA's need a little more work. I'm hopeful for upward momentum and achievement from them.
