This Buffalo Trace barrel-aged oatmeal stout is a rich and complex beer with layers of dark chocolate, coffee, and toasted oats and enhanced by the lightly sweet caramel, vanilla, and oak notes from the bourbon barrel. A dark pour with a thin head and lite slippery lacing.
Very enjoyable bourbon flavor, hints of root beer, sassafras, mild molasses, somewhat complex. Soft bitterness.
Surprisingly lite bodied, and on the edge of booziness at 8.4%, but pairs well with the sweet bourbon aftertaste.
