An easy walk from downtown if you're staying near Commerce Street, and an especially pleasant one once the sun sets and the cool night air settles, the entrance is almost hidden through the parking lot around the side of the pizza shop next door, so much so to the point that you may question if you’re in the right place, or if they're even open.
But you’re definitely in the right place, and they certainly are doing lively business even in the middle of the week. On this evening they had all the baseball on, conveniently for me featuring both the Detroit and Cleveland games. The interior is an amalgamation of modern restoration and rustic warehouse, even almost farmhouse vibes. They are also very keen on paying tribute to local military and first responder service--being in Alabama where everywhere we went we were asked if we were servicemembers, which I’ve never experienced in any other state so pervasively in my entire life--this seems to be far less of a statement than it would be in somewhere like Massachusetts.
The beer list was surprisingly well balanced between lager and ales, and the lagers I had were very nicely done. Unfortunately I was unable to try an IPA, but they looked pretty well suspended, haze wise, and I heard good things. The pizza next door looked pretty tasty too, alas, it was only a two beer visit for us.
