Pours a clear and translucent straw yellow with a twinge of darkness that drops it a shade darker than golden. Head is two fingers of white foam right from the crowler, with head retention holding up the foam well. Aroma is a crisp whiff of straw, hay, rye bread, biscuits and wafer crackers, all mingled with a subtle dryness. Flavor profile follows the nose, albeit with slightly less depth. It has biscuity, wafery, bready and lightly earthy malts with undertones of straw and bread. Slight buttery note Once again, it finishes dry, sweeping the tongue clean of any lingering notes, thus encouraging another quick sip. Mouth feel is crisp with just a slight punch of semi-sharp effervescent at the onset that mellows and fizzles out on the tongue. Overall, it is every bit of crisp and refreshing, evoking memories of summer nights spent on the freshly cut lawn, chasing fireflies, the sound of cicadas and sprinklers creating a sound backdrop. Shade Break is a crisp and refreshing lager, exactly as the description implies.
