Undated can.
Pours a dark brown - sort of like coca cola. Thin light brown head forms on the beer before fizzling out.
Aroma is dominated by rustic grain, barley malt, with a touch of bakers cocoa.
Taste has notes of dark bread, rye, barley malt, a mild nuttiness giving way to gentle grassy hops with just a light spiciness. There is a slight dark fruit character I am getting from this as it warms up. Just a hint of sweetness. It comes across more rustic or rough around the edges. The malts are more grainy than bready - I am left wanting more breadiness from it.
Feel is light, relatively crisp and easy drinking. Moderate but prickly carbonated. Semi-drier finish.
Overall a very nice Czech dark lager - worth a try.

Alma Mader's take on a Czech tmavé lager is another example of their skill at extracting complexity out of "just" a 4.6% ABV lager. It pours a copper-brown, with only a little light getting through when held up to a light. Moderate carbonation and lacing. The aroma has biscuits and grass elements, and the taste has something different shine through with every sip. Biscuit, caramel, almond-like nuttiness, just a hint of a floral bitterness. The mouthfeel is light and sparkling, and finishes with lingering bitter citrus. Overall, this is a very enjoyable session lager and I hope we'll see more of it again soon.

Czech Dark lager - is this European Dark in BA?
Pours black with two fingers of hearty khaki-colored foam. Head retention is good, leaving swirling laces of foam after each sip. Aroma is a blend of dark and light, hitting notes of bready, toasty and rye malts for the darkness, and pale, crystal malts for the light. Together, it comes out as a balanced yin-yang of malts across the spectrum. Flavor profile brings that same balance, teeter-tooter performance out, hitting notes of bready, toasty and rye malts, along with pale, crystal, and caramel malts. Grassy hops flirt with the tongue at the finale, but never seize the spotlight. Mouth feel is creamy and smooth with a light effervesce. Thickness is medium-thin. Overall, balance on this thing is great, scratching the itch for dark beer, but in a lightweight, session-able format. Lovely balance from start to stop.
Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.
