Our inaugural release of Copper Shrine consists of a blend of our barrel-aged barleywines aged in Weller barrels for 23 months. We selected barrels displaying decadent notes of candied figs, praline, vanilla, and molasses. The interplay between the base beer and barrels is balanced, inviting, and warming. The beer weaves between an English-leaning interpretation of barleywine and the bourbon-heavy bravado of barrel-aged American barleywines. All that to say, we're excited to have our first iteration of Copper Shrine ready for you, and we can't wait to keep blending it for years to come.

Pours a dark brown with no foam or head formation. Oily legs form from a swirl of the glass, foreshadowing a heavy beer. Aroma is fig, raisins, toffee, and caramel. Slight booze makes it into teh aroma, with dates, toasty malts, chocolate, and barrel coming in behind. Depth is fabulous, with the whole thing centering on fig and dates. Flavor profile centers on the same raisins, fig, and dates, but stacks toffee and chocolate alongside. Heavy toasty malts add heft alongside barrel and char. Booziness sneaks into the finish, but contrasts the opening sweetness well. Mouth feel is thick, with a fuzzy texture - like a big blanket for your tongue. Overall, delicious. A heavy barleywine accentuated by barrel and more fig/raisin than the usual dark fruits.
