Reflection Chamber brings together some of our best barrels, giving us the opportunity to put together exciting blends and flavor combinations across style categories. The 2023 blend consists of a barleywine and wheatwine that were aged in Wild Turkey Rye and Old Fitzgerald barrels for 16-25 months. We felt that marrying wheat and rye base beers (and barrels) would bring together the best of both worlds. This beer initially looks and feels like a barleywine as deep dark fruits push through on the aroma and flavor. Underneath the shell, the beer contains layered notes of spiced cola, vanilla, and brown sugar. We let the carb ride low to keep the softness and barrel-character front and center.

Pours black with a fatty layer of oil on top. Thick oily legs stick to the glass. Little to no foam after the pour. Aroma is thick toffee, fig, dark fruits, and caramel. A little molasses is sprinkled in for further sweetness. Despite that sugary list of notes, it doesn't dip into dessert territory, with heavy barrel and light char holding it back. Great depth in each sniff. Flavor profile compounds many of the same notes, pinning toffee, raisins, fig, and molasses together with caramel, candy nuts, and barrel. Barrel is present, but in a playful, not menacing way, adding a thoughtful expression to each flavor profile rather than a dart of alcohol. As it warms, dark fruits and mild brownie show up more. Mouth feel is thick in consistency with a near still effervescence that carries a moderate creaminess. Overall, a filling, boozy dark fruits candy bar. One fun sipper.
