(review from July 2024) Maltheads rejoice! Unbelievably well balanced, BA imp stout w/good mouthfeel; a complex flavor profile with too many notes to mention & such an incredibly smooth fooler of a 15.25%er that drinks like much less. Very subdued bourbony/rye/whiskyish strength that sneaks up on you as it warms up & you along with it!

Pours black with a still look, no bubbly foam above or below. Some thick khaki legs cling to the glass from the oil matting the top of the liquid, emphasizing a heavy look. Aroma is deep roasty and toasty malts. Remainder of the aroma leans into dark fruits, with toffee and barrel just beyond. Flavor profile is back to roasty and toasty malts. It features some underlying dark fruits which bring with them a little sweetness. Barrel is pretty minor. Mouth feel is thick. Texture is smooth and velvety with light effervescence. Overall, a full and smooth plain BA imperial stout. Good barrel play and well balanced. Always a treat to have a really solid BA imperial stout that's plain - without flavor additions!
