We teamed up with our friends at 2nd Shift to brew a mid-summer crispy treat! Both of us have a deep love for Czech-style pilsner so we thought we’d take elements of both Premiant and Technical Ecstasy to create a pilsner that feels foundationally Czech but with an Italian flair. This collaboration was brewed with all Bohemian malt and hopped with a blend of Saaz and Saphir in both the kettle and dry-hop. What resulted is an assertive, amplified and approachable pils that satisfies both styles of lager. From start-to-finish we get herbaceous notes of lemon rind and bergamot that fade into a bone-dry cracker crust background after each sip.

(review from August 2024) Incredibly clean, crisp, well balanced pils with good mouthfeel; a biscuity/straw-like/malty/slightly grainyish flavor & a dryish, quick-fading finish. Definitely quaffable.

Pours a golden straw color with a clear transparency. Head is two fingers of foam. Looks like a crispy lager. Aroma is delicate grassy, herbal, and citrus hops with wafers, biscuits, and bread malt behind. It doesn't come off as too dry on the nose. Flavor profile is wafers, biscuits, bread, and mild crackers (which appear more strongly in the last third) with citrus, and mild herbal and grassy hops. It's smooth and consistent throughout, with the hops adding small swings of additional flavor but not disturbing the flow of malts. Mouth feel is medium in thickness. Texture falls just shy of being really crisp, featuring a soft edge. Overall, a refreshing lager with just enough hops to be playful but not snuff out the refreshing nature of the lager.

draft pour into willi becher pint glass. cloudy straw gold with less than a finger of white foam head. the lack of head surprises me but i wonder is it the beer itself or the pour? either way this smells and tastes delicious. white bread, lemon, floral hops on the nose and taste. it was described as a “dry-hopped pilsner” and that had me a little concerned as american brewers tend to over hop a lot of pilsners and lagers but this was quite well executed and the choice of hops used was perfect. medium-full mouthfeel with a nice zippy carb to it. refreshing as all get out.
