What do stouts dream of when they take a big stout snooze? Do they dream of coconut and vanilla OR freshly dumped bourbon barrels to be racked into? Alright, alright, alright….back to the script. Dreamgaze is a blend of rye and wheated imperial stouts that were aged in Willett and Heaven Hill barrels for 17 to 21 months. We then conditioned the blend on toasted and raw coconut, as well as Madagascar and Ugandan vanilla. What more can you want? The perfect one-two punch that embodies deeply saturated bourbon barrel character with a side of macaroons, German chocolate cake, and silky mouthfeel from start to finish.

Pours black with a heavy oil across the top. Caramel oil clings to the glass in rings after a swirl of the viscous liquid. Aroma is thick coconut and vanilla bean, adding a swell of sweetness. Roasty and toasty malts sit just beyond the sweetness, pairing with barrel and some char to add some shadow or contrast to the initial sweetness. It's not pointedly sugary, which means it carries a great flow and balance. Flavor profile is a splendid, balanced blend of coconut, vanilla bean, and toffee. Dark roasty and toasty malts add some contrast, but do not dip into overly reactive from the initial sugary notes. Barrel and char add a playful kiss of bitterness. As a whole, it blends some brownie batter with coconut and vanilla bean. Decadent. Mouth feel is thick. Texture is splendid, drinking creamy, filling, and thick. Overall, a really fantastic stout with coconut and vanilla bean used heavily, but tastefully. Decadent, rich, but not overly sugary or in-your-face.
