When the IPA style wants something a little fruitier and sweeter, it can put a spur in the side of the tastebuds. But thanks to Versailles Brewing Co., they've got the beer for such occasion.
Arriving with a slightly hazy golden hue, The Pineapple Spur floats a stark white froth and a fruity scent of prescribed tropical fruit, citrus and spruce. Sweet enough to appease the sweet tooth, early impressions of simple syrup, fruit cocktail and candied malt frame a malty upstart. The bolder pineapple flavor brings about a mild pineapple fluff character before the complement of pink grapefruit, tangerine and lime stem from a bold hopping regimen. Trending bitter, the late taste brings about fresh spruce, green tea and herbal pine and hemp to balance the pineapple sweetness.
Medium bodied and too fruity and sweet to qualify as a west coast styled IPA, this juicier American IPA is still formidable enough to appease hop heads and to attract those who can't resist a tropical vacation for the tastebuds.
