very very cool beer here, big thanks to my in laws for scoring a bottle for me in their travels, i have been obsessed with wine grape beers of late, and this one is exceptional, among the best ive had from these guys overall too, it slays. 2019 vintage, pours a deep pinkish purple color with high color saturation and a little haze, gorgeous color, not much head but its carbonated enough when i drink it. incredibly funky nose, more brett than sourness and well mature now too, tannic from the grapes, this is done with the seeds and skins after pressing, i wish they said which grapes they use, its hard to guess, but the fruit makes this super unique and clearly these leftovers had a lot to give still. the fermentation profile is awesome, real unique, super wild, brett driven, but sort of lambic-esque too for a flash, with some medium acidity running through it and a real earthiness about it, dynamic to say the least. the fruit is amazing in the flavor, its vinous sure, a little sweet at the right moment, but also hints at other fruits including cranberry and raspberry and even rhubarb to me. its drying towards the end, has a pink peppercorn layer to it, even a light nuttiness, and i taste more and more as it warms. the fermentation profile makes this special, i love that about this, but the fruit is also super cool, and its obvious these guys know what they are doing. impressive overall quality, cool packaging, and a very unique beer as this sort of thing going, definitely some cool terroir on display. loved it!
