this is outrageously good, thankful for family picking it up for me when they were there, really an impressive kriek type, fully spontaneous and wild to me, wonderful and also unique cherry character, mature and well refined, maybe their best beer to date in my limited experience, i was floored by this. the cork comes out with a loud pop, but the beer doesnt seem to hold a ton of carbonation, the head is gone in just a minute and a shiny but slightly hazed over light pinkish orange brew remains in the glass, looking a little still but with a real pretty color. the nose is fantastic to me, tons of well developed brett, oak, and a floral aspect to the cherry, like almost as much of a cherry blossom thing as the fruit itself, way cool. simple earthy grain base, fermented near dry it seems, some nice clean acidic pucker, light orange and lemon too, white wine, vanilla from the oak highlighting the cherry, and some musty funkiness as well, very dynamic. the flavor is even better, the blossom and fruit back interplay is here again, i get a wildflower honey note with it, and not much tartness or sweetness from the cherry, i wonder what type of cherry they use, its so distinctive here, almost dried and raisin-like for a second, but then more tangy as it sits, hints of white currant and raspberry in here as well, along with obvious white wine elements from the oak. awesome brett complexion here, cool wildness too, not samey at all, unique to this brewery and place, more lambic than i expected really, i love that. maybe not quite belgian in that regard, but better than what a whole mess of others are doing with this sort of thing, thats for sure. i could use more carbonation yeah, but the slow texture of this allows the finish to accumulate all the flavor and last awhile, so i cant really complain, epic cherry and funk late here, still floral to me, amazing, maybe just a little off on the bottle conditioning. definitely a special beer, highly recommended if you get the chance to try it!
