Sampler pour.
Pours a transparent caramel color with a white head of 1 finger, leaving lace around the glass.
Aroma of floral hops and plant matter, and very very slight caramel malt.
Flavor is floral hops, plant matter, wet parchment paper, slight cardboard, and very faint toffee or brown sugar. The sweetness is there but is a benchwarmer. Finishes on floral bitter hops. Too hoppy for a Scottish style ale.
Feel is a bit thin, as expected, slightly sticky, good carbonation, and an unexpected resiny finish.
Overall, quite a poor style example. No malt sweetness, no caramel, no peat. It is marginally drinkable, and manages to coat the palate with a little semi-sweetness, but there's no peat or richness or anything noteworthy that makes this stand out. The semi-sweetness with the hops manages to pull off a tinfoil sort of thing. In a blind test I could easily confuse this with their brown ale which is also not particularly on point.
