Covert Artisan Foxfire Czech-style Amber Lager, 4.7% ABV. Pours deep copper with a one-finger off-white head that left wispy lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, faint fruit, and hoppy. Taste is bready, faintly sweet, slightly bitter. Decent slightly dry mouthfeel, overall excellent.

Poured into a Nonic.
Pours a perfect crystal-clear amber. Limited head. Excellent lacing, resulting from small but steady streams of carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass.
Caramel malts and grassy hops on the nose. A little bready character.
A bit more hop character on the palate--along with Covert's hallmark dusty-grainy malt/yeast combination, which helps offset the caramel malt sweetness. There is a fruity note, too, and toasty hints. "Balanced" and "restrained" are the two words that best describe these flavors. They are all there, but nothing is very prominent. It all blends together fairly well, yet isn't muddled.
Not "crisp" or "drying," the brew still comes off medium-bodied at most, and is fairly light for an amber. Decently carbonated.
Like true APAs, English Bitters, and other balanced, restrained styles, the Czech Amber is a mild modest style that may not "wow," but this is a tasty brew.
