This imperial stout is a remake of our first-ever barrel-aged stout. The barrel was a select barrel from Old Elk, which they used to age maple syrup in. We aged our stout base for 18 months and then conditioned it with six different vanilla beans: Democratic Republic of Congo, Hawaiian, Indonesian Sumatra, Madagascar, Rwandan, and Ugandan.

Covert Artisan Pod Squad (2024) 18mo Old Elk BBA Imperial Stout, 12% ABV. Pours thick and black, with a slight head of brown bubbles that leaves an oily sheen. Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, and maple. Taste is strong maple and vanilla, some bourbon, quite sweet, moderately bitter. Excellent mouthfeel, overall outstanding.
