Pours black with a finger and a half of caramel colored foam. Head retention is fair. Aroma is roasty, toasty and caramely malts. Toffee adds a little sweetness, but balance leans towards dark and bitter. Sweetness opens up a little when warmed. Flavor profile is roasty, toasty, nutty, caramely malts with toffee, caramel and molasses. Mouth feel is medium-thick with a creamy texture with a light grain around the edges. Overall, leaning towards bitter, this stout is robust and straight forward.
Served in a 15.5oz Spiegalau tulip from a 16oz can.
