Pours a dark brown that shows a clear transparency around the edges. Head is a finger of tan foam. Aroma is bready pumpernickel, toasty, caramel, and light roasty malts. It's hearty full grain bread for the entire nose. Flavor profile is pumpernickel, bready, toasty, roasty, caramely, and earthy malts, again, carrying a hearty, full grain bread series of notes. Hops are light, but come on as grassy right before the dry finish. Mouth feel is prickly and bubbly at the start, with a smooth velvety finish. Overall, a bread forward beer that remains clean throughout. Refreshing.
