On draft at Rheinfelder Bierhalle in Zurich. Cola colored, reads as brown but with a deep garnet color when held to the light. Nonetheless clear and with a good finger of light foam. Aroma of wood shavings, vegetal hop smells more than floral, with some very cherry and red fruit smells. Caramel malt to the fore, and much of it, with root beer character, cierry and apricot. Just a musty, sour-edged hop flick at the end. Quaffable and a but thin, better as a food accompaniment than a standalone tipple.

Served out of a 12oz bottle.

A: clear, dark brown. good sticky lacing, medium head retention.

S: weak nose, cola.

T: a bit watery. cola, cherry, light coffee. (note: maybe a bit of sweetness, but i found this much drier than previous reviewers)

M: somewhat over-carbonated. very light-bodied

O: not much going for it, very light in smell, flavor, and body. i guess it might be a good replacement for an easy-drinking light lager with a bit more dark flavors.

33cl bottle dated 5/8/12. This is actually from Germany, not imported to the US with the bottle entirely in German.

Looks black through the glass but more of a root beer appearance with a head that dissipates as fast as root beer's does.

Roasted malt, spent grain, slightly acrid, molasses, clove.

Slightly sweet, malty, wet roasted grain, very little bitterness. hints of fig

Medium bodied, slightly creamy, smooth.

Truth be told, I am not much of a lager guy so this didnt rock my world, but it was an experience and that is what beer is to me... an experience. If you like dark lagers, give this a try.
