Disappointing. It looks pretty but there is minimal aroma or flavor. Not sure what happened here because it doesn't taste remotelyclike.a hefeweizen. It isn't bad but it isn't what I would.expect for the style. Some off notes flavor wise too. Maybe this is a bad batch or something?

Figured since Wingers Winnemucca actually had their own beers on tap, I would keep the train rolling. This was during that bullshit Indiana/Notre Dame first ever college football bracket playoff game.
Actually looks impressive. Definitely has the hazy thick edge appearance that should be customary for a hefeweizen. You know all those big boy blends of American wheat ale meets German hefeweizen stateside, this leans more to the latter. Solid 4/5" white head. The aroma smacked of wheat moreso than a wheat/yeast combo, but all is well that ends well.
Taste, ok, clearly we're not going to land in Live Oak territory of excellence, but this is still respectable for a place more known for its food. Decent. Smooth enough, still a little pang of hop to it, but not overly so. Carbonation seems to be dialed in where I like a hefeweizen to accentuate the smoothness. I think its a plenty serviceable beer, went fine with their wings. Just as good as any of the BJs, Rock Bottoms of the world etc. . .

i continue to dabble in the wingers beers when i visit, this one isnt bad, real basic, and light on the yeast side for something they are calling a hefeweizen, almost more of an american pale wheat ale to me, without the german estery character being very developed, but its fuller bodied and soft, smooth in texture for sure, a little saggy and tired maybe overall, but not a bad one overall. murky and deeper in color than it needs to be, even a brownish tint to it, still frothy headed and active, lots of haze as the name suggests, almost to the point of looking a little sloppy. it smells alright, subtle banana i guess, overripe but still subtle, toasted character to the wheat, not as light or pale or pure as the best of these, but wheaty nevertheless, no hops to speak off, freshness seems suspect, which can be the case at wingers across the board unfortunately. the flavor has some early sweetness, some lightly metallic character, and some yeastiness as well, even if not the classic hefeweizen yeast notes. there is some balance, and i get an orange note, a little toffee, and some late herbal element that keep it somewhat dynamic. smooth and long, even a little filling for what it is, but good as a wash down with one of their burgers. just a beer, nothing exotic or special, and certainly not measuring up to the best takes on hefe that exist, but serviceable never the less...

Taster at Wingers Meridian. Pale yellow, mildly hazy, thin head. I couldn't find any signs of a hefeweizen, so I rated this as a wheat ale. Bland, vague bready notes, thin. I wasn't expecting much, so I wasn't disappointed.
