We took our original Belgian Quad and aged it for 9 months in fresh Buffalo Trace Barrels. We were thrilled with what these barrels did to the beer. The dark stone fruit flavors of figs and dates are now complimented by warming bourbon and barrel aromas and flavors, perfect for the cold winter months.

A: Pours dark and muddy reddish brown color. A one finger beige head forms, and quickly recedes to a ring. Not much lace is left behind.
S: Peppery, spicy phenols up front, mixed with a big oak and vanilla character. Dark bread and dark fruit. Plums, raisins, cherries specifically. With vanilla and molasses.
T: You have to let this warm up to get the full expression. That phenolic and peppery spice up front from the Belgian yeast is enjoyable, and lets me know there is a solid base underneath. Then the barrels come into play. Oak, vanilla, molasses. Dark bread and fruits again. Chocolate covered cherries and plums. A touch of warming alcohol. Kind of like a boozy fig newton if there is such a thing.
M/O: A medium to full body, Moderate carbonation. Maybe a bit lighter than I was expecting, but that is far from a bad thing, as I'm not a fan of full on thick syrupy feel. The alcohol builds as this warms, and it is certainly a sipper, but an enjoyable one.
Man, I'm just loving everything I come across from True Anomaly. This is no different. They are killing it and this is well done.

500 ml bottle poured into a 9 oz Libbey Embassy snifter glass. Deep mahogany brown with a creamy cap of off white foam and spotty lace. Dark fruit (figs, dates), toffee toasted malt, warming alcohol, and oaky barrel notes. Medium to full body, creamy feel and softer to moderate carbonation. An effective integration of boozy, fruity quad with complementary bourbon barrel notes.
