Quantum Shift celebrates the East Coast approach to IPA. Malt flavor and sweetness accompany intense hop flavor and aroma. Copious additions of late kettle hopping, specialty malt and an English ale yeast strike balance between a rich malt backbone and a juicy hop profile.

Lightly hazed deep amber appearance with a large off white head and good lacing. Some sediment settled on the bottom of the glass. The hop variety changes every year and this one (volume 13) features galaxy, grungeist and citrus incognito hops. ABV is unchanged. Restrained aroma of passion fruit and peach. All those new hops make a bigger impression on the palate as tropical fruit, citrus and grapefruit contribute. Aftertaste is herbal and a bit spicy. High carbonation keeps things moving along. Refreshing!

Pretty darn good, although not "amazing" ... A bit flat and unexciting, but drinks smooth and tastes pretty good ... Others from this Brewer are better, but worth a try

This is Volume 10: Idaho 7/Columbus/Meridian. I accidentally left this one out for about thirty minutes to warm after being in the back of the fridge for two days. Decent head, color and lack of transparency. Nose is stiff with malt, light rye spice, and plenty of herbal and medicinal flavors.
Flavor is unexpectedly light and mellow. That light spice and medium hopping stays through to the aftertaste. This kind of hit the spot and was far better than I expected it to be.

12oz can into a Teku glass. Unsure of what version this is because Silver Branch doesn't seem to identify on the can.........
Look: Pours a clear, dark reddish-amber. A foamy white head reduces into a thin ring around the glass leaving plenty of spotty, sticky lacing behind.
Smell: The aroma is all juice. Candy sugar and tropical fruit/citrus. Pine can be detected throughout.
Taste: The juice from the aroma is there, first. Then it quickly leaves the palate and is replaced with a dank, earthy, resiny, dry bitterness on the finish. Caramel malt throughout holds the two flavor profiles together.
Feel: Medium body, low carbonation, very tight bubbles, dry and sticky.
Overall: Very good IPA. Juice is there. Dry, sticky west coast bitterness is there. A good fusion of old and new school. If only they put the hops on the can.......

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned 12/26/2018.
Big fat and tall head that is nealy a fistfull, with super fine bubbles and a creamy light khaki appearance. Body color is a nice simple orange amber, with hints of chestnut brown, and some real nice clarity. Head slows down nicely to make for some quick easy drinking and settling with big bubbly lacing.
Slightly malt forward but not entirely, could be from minor fade, but a real nice crispy brown sugar that is balanced and then given to lighter pine and herbal hop notes. Flirts with maybe a little bit of grapefruit as well. Quite solid and classic.
Real solid tasting IPA. Big rich malt body without the excess sweetness, toucing krispy caramel and flakey toffee. Nice bitte hop that hints somewhere between orange and tea like flavors. Some nice leafy grass tones on the aftertaste as well to measure up.
Superb old school East coast tasting IPA, and with real pleasurable hints and touches of malt, true hop bitterness, and mixing fruit to earthy herbal tones. Great stuff.

"East Coast IPA" per the can - whatever that means these days.
Pale amber color, excellent clarity. Pours a tight white bubbled head that lingers. Surprisingly clear given the hop aroma.
Big slug of pine and citrus hop notes. Fairly intense hop aroma, which overwhelms any malt aroma present.
A bit of malty sweetness that pairs nicely with some of the citrus fruity hops up front. Hop bitterness gradually asserts itself, but really finishes just on the hoppy side of balanced. More in the big hop but not huge bitterness family of IPAs.
Med body, medium-high carbonation. No astringency or warming. I think slightly lower carbonation would work well with this beer.
A tad too fruity for my taste on an IPA, but a very nice and drinkable "modern" IPA.
