Tropical stout has evolved as it has migrated from its Irish birthplace to being brewed in the American, African and Asian tropics. Silver Branch’s Chronicle continues that ongoing story. We’ve married smooth roast with luscious malt to give you a beer reminiscent of dark chocolate, rich caramel, and coffee. The addition of unrefined Colombian panela sugar gives Chronicle a distinct rummy toffee finish.

Deep, dark brown appearance with an average size beige head and light lacing. Pleasing aroma brings together notes of coffee, chocolate and molasses. Taste is sweet with roasted malts, dark fruit and toffee mixing it up on the tongue. Aftertaste is bittersweet Smooth, medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel. .

This local brewer has quietly started to become an "automatic buy" when I see something new, which is mostly uncommon here in Maryland. Big, bold nose with coffee and fudge and roast barley. This is very smooth and really hit the spot a few days before Christmas.

Looks like a stout should! Black, but a little bit of red highlights around the edges, two fingers of thick, tan foam, good retention and lace.
Smells like dark chocolate and espresso, with a light fruitiness and earthiness underneath.
Very rich, dark chocolate and french roast coffee, a bit of herbal, earthy hops
Mouthfilling and satisfying, but drinkable.
A damn fine stout.
Edit: the nitro version is way smoother, for those that don't like as sharp of a stout

Poured from the can into a nonic pint glass. Canned December 24th 2018.
Big aggressive and bold off the pour. Rich classic cascading forming head, reaching a fistfull controlled height and a dark tan color. Swiss cheese bubbles and layers of foam and popping bubles as the beer settles. Nearly black bodied too, with opaque appearance and dark walnut color that is consistent throughout. Very big and bold looking stout here, a great start.
Real nice inviting aroma. Soft grains with a big chewy sensing roast quality. Thick dark chocolate with real bready molasses quality, with faint hints of roast coffee. Perhaps a sense of milky tones without the over reaching sweetness as well. This is very nice.
Palate stays grounded. A very better than average mouthfeel that is quite silky and rich feeling. The base flavors tend more towards light roasted grains while there is marriage of dark chocolate and coffee. Aftertaste is a bit unique, flirts slightly banana, maybe a touch of faint herbal hop, but sticks with real dark chocolate and almost a ganache like coating and flavor. Mild tinny aftertaste unfortunately but very slightly and not jarring.
Described as a "tropical stout" and rich would be appropriate. Very nicely done and comes with a great body and rich flavor.

Originally was labeled as a "tropical stout", now labeled as an FES.
Basically opaque and very dark. Pours a good sized tan head, creamy and lingering.
Nice bits of roast with lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Has a creamy sweetness - hints of chocolate milk.
Sweet malt and chocolate up front, more coffee and roast midmouth, but overall flavor profile is on the malty, slightly sweet side as expected for a bigger tropical stout. Very smooth flavor profile, dangerous for a 6.5% beer.
Medium body and carbonation, somewhat creamy and quite smooth on the palate. Very slight alcoholic warming (or is that my heartburn?)
An early favorite of mine from a new brewery. An easy drinking, malt forward biggish beer. Nice example of a sweeter stout style.
