Incredibly flavorful abbey ale inspired by the everyday beers enjoyed by Trappist monks. Soft golden color and an intense, spicy Belgian yeast profile. All the character of a hop-forward, yeast-driven Belgian ale without the higher alcohol.

Lightly hazed yellow gold appearance with a small white head and little lacing. Yeasty aroma touched by a soft fruitiness. More yeasty esters are prolific in the taste with a spicy, tangy bite. Medium-to-light bodied mouthfeel. Pleasant lingering finish.

Look: It has excellent clarity and is golden in color. It has a white head with very good head retention.

Smell: The first impression is spice supported by fruity esters. It has a low herb quality with very low citrus. It has an earthly impression as well.

Taste: It has a malty sweetness to it with a bit of biscuit. There are some spiciness in the flavor. There is a bit of orange clove. It has some earthly flavors as well.

Feel: It has a medium low body with medium high carbonation. It has a dry finish.

Overall: There is a complex combination of aromas and flavors. It is quite easy drinking.

Poured from the can into a tulip glass.

Very dark for a single, but with an excellent clear and beaming brass brown yellow, polished like a dark rail. Fine micro carbonation, even one dead center, meeting to a simple bright white two finger head. Gleaming and glowing like a gem, great looking beer.

Good solid aroma. Slightly hop forward with touches of herbal spice. Malt toasty crisp with only a little hints of candi like sugar. Hits a bit large and aggressive. Some faint malt toasty notes if any.

Palate is real solid. Honey feeling and tasting and more sturdy malt backbone is noticeable on first sip. Pleasant amounts of herbal flavors, particularly in the finish mixing a touch of sage, and almost sharp pine hop bitterness. There's a much more unique malt bill going on here that flirts with peanut, but gets more into toasty character. A bit of a playful carbonation in feel and flavor also. With some time there's a little bit of fruit apple and pear like sweet flavors, followed with a good contrasting hop bitterness.

A very solid Belgian single

12oz can into the Avery Barrel Glass.

Look: An opaque golden-orange/amber with a thin white head of tight bubbles. A very tiny bit of spotty lacing can be seen on the side of the glass.
Smell: Coriander/spice, citrus, citrus peel, a hint of brown sugar and some toasty malt.
Taste: Follows the nose spicy, citrusy, sweet malts.
Feel: Light-medium body, good carbonation and very tight bubbles.
Overall: I'm not an expert when it comes to Belgian styles, but this is damn tasty!

Clear gold, white head, retention is lacking, but lace is nice
Fruity and spicy yeast aromas, sweet malt underneath
Tastes like it smells, the malt sweetness lingers
Light bodied and effervescent
I could drink a few of these.

Not a blonde ale, but a Belgian "Trappist/Abbey Single"

Rich golden color and brilliantly clear, pours a medium white head, white bubbled and dispersing fairly quickly.

Spicy nose with a hint of pepper, and slight hop aroma. Subtle sweetness. Aroma is more subtle than the flavor.

Flavor is a nice mix of Belgian yeast peppery and noble hops spicy. I've attempted making this style as a homebrewer, and this version trumps me both on the hops and the yeast phenolics. Hops are quite assertive, befitting its role as the Belgian pilsner. Nice dry, bitter finish.

Medium body and carbonation - nothing exceptional about the mouthfeel, but is drying and bitter.

Happy to see this style being brewed locally. Drinks like a pilsner with a twist, and this one hits hard both with the yeast character and the hop flavor and bitterness.
