The second beer in our EXPLORER SERIES, Mondo Mundo makes an excellent pairing with a ride range of intensely flavored cuisine. With a lush malt backbone but a light frame it makes this the perfect complement for heavy flavors like mole, hot salsa and seared carne asada while maintaining a high degree of drinkability. We brewed MONDO MUNDO with a large portion of Vienna Malt for that undeniably delicious but subtle malt sweetness balanced by a lasting impression of toasty malt character. We lagered this 5 weeks to create an incredibly round and smooth drinking character. Notable commercial examples that are similar would include Negro Modelo and Full Sail Sesión Negra.

So, I was a little skeptical about this too when I looked at the comments before drinking this but this is super malty for a lager and drinks exceedingly well for the style. It's honestly not special with a quick dying head and lack of balance, until you get the lower carbonation which really allows the basic no frills nuts and caramel toasted flavors and delivers with aplomb. A bit of a diamond in the rough.

Dark, clear amber, thin white head, good retention, slippery rings of lace
Nutty, caramel, and slight citrus aromas
Nutty, caramel, light dried fruit flavors, clean
Slightly thin bodied, lower carbonation
Could definitely slam these. If you told me it was a mild fermented with lager yeast, I'd believe you

Technically a "Mexican-style Vienna Lager"

Very artistic can. Pours a deep amber color, brilliantly clear. with a moderate sized white head, creamy with okay retention.

Very clean, slightly sweet aroma. Pleasant light maltiness.

Struggling for words on the flavor. Is balanced and clean. Malt has a slight toastiness to it, but overall manages to be both malty and crisp. Very well attenuated - has a crisp finish despite the low bitterness. Hops adequate to help dry out the finish - just a subtle malt sweetness in the finish.

Medium body and carbonation - as befits a drinkable lager, the mouthfeel steps aside.

Overall is an incredibly drinkable beer. As I said to a friend while drinking it (on draft) at the brewery earlier today, "I could drink the s*it out of this beer". A clean, balanced, and malty beer.
