Poured from the can into a tulip glass.

Frothy and rocky rich off white head, clumpy with quite IPA like retention. Good middle column of carbonation through a real nice muted orange and yellow body. Quite a solid looking tripel.

Faint bready notes on the nose, with touches of light sucrose and sugars. Sense of thick malt and a bit of bread dough and a bit of a neutral and not really diverse estery quality. Still fairly solid aroma.

Pretty decent palate. Chewy and somewhat flirting light body, with a good mid palate that has some variance of flavors. Nice light honey sweetness, and bready white dough in the mid palate. Flirts with a little bit of fruit and white wine grape flavors also which makes for a unique surprise.

Doesn't quite show case the rich bold estery and big girth of the classics in the style, but this is a very good tasting tripel.

Deep golden color, very slight haze. Poured small white head with limited retention.

Soft peppery aroma at the start, Some candy sweetness, a slight whiff of alcohol. Smells surprisingly sweet

Bit of a belgian yeast character with hints of pepper, but is surprisingly sweet. The slightly spicy sweetness carries into the finish. Needs a bit more back end "crispness" - a few more IBUs of hops, more carbonation, or both.

MF - Not as light tasting as some in terms of body, and not enough carbonation to help dry out the finish. The mouthfeel enhances the sense that it is overly sweet. Slight alcohol warming in the finish.

I feel like most of what I wrote above is complaining. It actually is a nice drinking, big Belgian beer. However, it isn't as refined as some of the best examples of the style. I do think it was slightly better on draft at the brewery - this review was based on the canned version.

Clear gold, finger of white head. No retention or lace
Banana, pear, vanilla, and soft malt aroma
Pretty much the aroma in reverse order as above, plus a touch of sweet spice
Feels flat, needs more carbonation, but other than that, right on. Clean and drinkable.
Not really my style, and definitely not as good as Westmalle Tripel or Cinq Cents, but still decent
