A smooth and roasty malt with a heady aroma and flavor of vanilla-spice imparted from a long rest in Sagamore Spirit Rye barrels.

Poured from the can into a large snifter glass.
Out of control head. Dark tan, but ballooning to a giant fist and growing exponentially off the pour. Luckily not too much retention with some lush fizz pops, but this in my experience looks infected on appearances alone possibly. The head does manage to settle to a good puck and collar rather quickly though, on a simple classic dark almost blackened body.
The aroma does not seem to hint at infection. Soft chocolate malts, with a mix of faint fruity ester, a touch of rye like barrel just barely as well. Touches a little bit of molasses too. Does not give me the impression this was aged long, but so far no faults yet.
Palate doesn't really get there. Extremely light bodied for a barrel aged and not surprisingly heavily gaseous. Minimal roast and touches of heavy carbon dioxide gas in the mix that's overwhelming some of the few whiskey notes here. Touches a little bit of milky chocolate, but without much body to go with it unfortunately.
Chronicle is a great beer from this brewery, but this isn't a really good example as the base beer has been taken over by a gas bomb. Looks like they should try again, but you might want to skip this one. Drinkable, just enough, but not giving the true beer justice it deserves.

12 oz can from Craft Beer Cellar. Dark brown pour with thick beige head.Aroma features booze first on the nose, roast malts and chocolate coming in behind. Taste is sweet, chocolate and more accents from the rye barrels. Tangy, sweet finish.

Opaque due to cloudiness, dark brown, thin tan head, no retention, spots of lace
Vanilla, coffee, toffee, dried fruits and oak in the nose
Flavor mimics aroma, but lacks the fullness. It seems watery, despite its body
Full bodied, clean, could use a little more carbonation
Swing and a miss
