Rich, malty, and deeply roasty without tasting burnt, Endless Odyssey is worth an epic journey. Perfect for a long evening with a kindred spirit.

From a can from the neighborhood beer advent exchange. This beer is not what I would consider a good Russian imperial stout. Closer to a fry Irish stout with certain RIS characteristics. 3.25

A - Pours opaque black with red highlights with a half finger rocky brown head that dissipates quickly. Looks thin but has good carbonation reminiscent of a nitro beer. 3.75

S - Dark chocolate, leather, and roasted almost burnt malt but dominated by very vinous aromas, including fermented and dried fruits. 3.5

T - The taste is very reflective of the aroma but with a slight solvent-like characteristic. 3.5

MF - Medium body, but too thin for the style, with a dry almost astringent feel. 3.0

Fortunately realized I hadn't reviewed this one before drinking the last of the six pack (not on the same night!)

Pours very dark with a smallish dark tan head, creamy and lingering for a beer of this strength.

Chocolate and a bit of dark fruit in the aroma, and a hint of booze. Smells rich.

Slightly sweet chocolate-malt flavors up front, some hints of alcohol midmouth onward. Enough roast and hops to keep the malty sweet under control. Surprisingly smooth in the finish.

Medium-full body and low-medium carbonation. Quite creamy and smooth. Very subtle alcohol warming.

Manages to be both big flavor and very drinkable. Nice to have an RIS that isn't so in your face to make drinking it tough. I think it would work even better as an 8-9% beer.

Pretty much opaque from the darkness, a little bit of brown peeking through at the bottom of the glass. Tan head, but not much retention or lace.
Aromas of treacle, toffee, dark chocolate, and dark fruit.
Dark chocolate roastiness, dark fruit and dark caramel flavors as well.
A little sticky, but surprisingly light for how rich the beer is.
A good winter beer.
