Mexican Hot Chocolate Chipotle Stout
If ever there was a beer to drink on the day the world ends—and each day leading up to it—Doomsday Chronicle is that beer! Inspired by the flavors in Mexican hot chocolate the creamy body and toffee finish are a perfect foil for the cocoa, cinnamon, and the touch of heat from the chipotles!

Black, thin khaki head, no retention, not much in the way of lace.
Earthy, slightly smoky spice. Some cocoa.
Really earthy. I dig it. Smoke. Spice. Subtle chocolate
Medium-heavy body. A little light on carbonation, but it works.
I think most folks would prefer this to be less earthy and more sweet, but I really like it. Definitely not an everyday drinker, though.

Deep amber color, effectively opaque. Pours a nice sized tan head with decent retention.
Aroma mostly chocolatey goodness, but do feel my nose tingling a bit (chipotle?) Also get some cinnamon as it warms a bit.
Up front it tastes of a chocolate stout, not terribly different from the base Chronicle but with a bit more complexity from the additions. But the finish has some heat from the pepper. Starts subtle and seems to grow with time. The contrast between the front end sweetness and back end spiciness is nice. Is a pepper heat equivalent of a bitter hoppy finish that is temporarily soothed by another sip.
Medium body and carbonation. No astringency, but some definite warming from the peppers.
Got this beer on a whim, and not being a big pepper beer person was pretty okay with it. Definitely is a step away from the ordinary. Not recommended for people with heartburn.
