Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Packaged June 7th 2022. Canned at Old Ox Brewery for Silver Branch Brewing Co.

Deep amber body color, almost getting into brown with very dark orange/reddish body color, and some good clarity. Real creamy topped head, khaki and yellowish to off white tinged and can be served with a spoon. Icing caked with a three to four finger top and really not even budging.

Aroma seems to have more of a malt presence at first. Good caramel and an old touch of soft biscuit cookie quality seems to be the first thing that is noticeable on the nose. More of a sense of pine than classic citrus pith grapefruit, but also heavily malt forward. That biscuit quality in inescapable and seems to push my mind more towards an English bitter ironically. Is that aroma good, certainly, but not really sensing West coast let alone IPA quality here.

My palate on first sip seems very happy, but also very confused. Creamy almost like a fruited English ale yeast flavor of cream sensation with a nice touch of herbal pine. Soft caramel notes bring a good sweetness, but the hops here aren't really the focus. Good lasting herbal and pine finish, with some of that caramel and creamy flavor balancing things out.

Problem is where's the classic notes of West coast fruit character? This tastes more like and English bitter/IPA with maybe a faint hint of pine quality which isn't what I am looking for in this style. Still, for what's put together here this is actually pretty tasty otherwise, but as a big old school West Coast IPA fan of old I can't help but feel disappointed here.

Pours a very hazy amber color with a beige head which lingers. Floral, malt and hop notes on the nose and taste. The bitterness is nicely balanced and this is a very chuggable brew on a hot summer day

Amber color, pretty darn muddy. Pours a normal sized tan head with decent retention.

Solventy hop aroma, more in the earthy world of hops, but with hints of pineapple and grapefruit. Has some malt, and also a bit of a toasty aroma that I like.

Fantastic toasty and earthy flavor up front - definitely something different, but I like it. A bit of a caramel malt sweetness gets through, but the hop flavor dominates. Bitterness on the back end is very gentle, but does become apparent in the lengthy finish. But a pretty smoothly drinking IPA.

Medium body and carbonation, and while the hops are a bit drying on the tongue, they aren't harsh.

I think I've liked some of the Cosmic IPAs from this brewery a bit more, but I like that it is a different tasting IPA.

Murky brown, tan head, poor retention, good lace
Pine, tropical fruit, cherry and watermelon candy, pear, some spice aromas
Pear, cherry, spice and piney hops over a caramelly malt background
Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation
Other than being obscenely ugly, a pretty good beer. Guess I'll drink the rest of the sixer from the can
