Poured from the can into a pokal style glass. Described as a pale doppelbock.

Really nice looking beer in this glass. Pale amber, with light touches of orange, lemon yellow, and chestnut brown. Real nice creamy to soapy fine head, with a neat off white kind of vanilla yellow color, and stretching a simple good three fingers. Nice clarity, just enough to see some very fine carbonation.

Aroma is even a bit big off the pour. Thick malts with a good punch of herbal hop notes. Bit of a touch of fussel and alcohol booze as well, but it is tolerable. The sweetness gets a nice contrast to some of the rich sensing heat.

Quite a nice palate. Light bodied malts, which gives a flavor sense of real crisp and clean toffee candy. Does hint a touch boozy hot but not terribly. Good contrast of herbs and bitterness on the finish which dial the sweetness factor down nicely. There's an excellent unexpected rich creamy feel to the beer also, which is a nice touch.

This is pretty solid, and while the high abv is noticeable, it’s tolerable and expected. However, if it was masked more this could be one real impressive creation.

 

Pale doppelbock? ok, gonna blend between Mai bock and Doppelbock on it.

Clear, deep gold, nice white head, decent retention and lacing
Smells like honey and freshly baked bread, maybe a little bit of herbal hops
Tastes like it smells, but the hops pop. A bit of citrus and spice to go along with the sweet malt and keep it clean
Medium heavy bodied and appropriately carbonated
A good one for the odd chill after a late spring thunderstorm
