PolotmavĂ˝ (translating to half dark) is a Czech-Style amber lager that is malt-driven with a hop character that varies from low to very significant. Our PolotmavĂ˝ has a medium hop character that is driven by the maltier notes, bready and caramel sweetness with a slightly dry finish to it. Chestnut in color with dry, sweet, maltier flavors to match.

On draught. An amber pour with high clarity a decent head, and a little lacing.
Aroma pretty neutral. The toasted malt flavor is very enjoyable, as is the hops profile.

Bright copper under a large beige head; lacing was modest. Bready, malty aroma with notes of caramel. Some sweetness in the flavor. Herbal, spicy hops starting to balance things out but the malts stay in control. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel. Overall, nice change of pace.

12 ounce can poured into a Spiegelau wheat beer glass.

L: Dark amber and a bit hazy in the glass, one finger khaki head fades to a perpetual cap.
S: Quick burst of bread, then a metallic aroma, settling to spicy hops and bread crust.
T: Light caramel malt flavor is quickly pushed aside by spicy hops and a lesser bread malt flavor, bitterness is in the medium range. It has a light but steady mineral flavor.
F: Highly carbonated with a large crisp bite, light medium body, becoming softer and a touch creamy as the carbonation dissipates.
O: Rather good.

Poured from the can into a pokal style glass.

Fluffy topped khaki light head, reaching an easy three fingers of height. Clear beaming amber brown body, with excellent clarity showing just some barely fine carbonation.

Aroma is nice dry malts, a hint of clove some real clean bakery crispness and faint touching caramel. Clean and refreshing with lots of balance between all the senses.

Palate is just as enjoyable. Crisp sensing with clean dryness, and bakery and crackery flavour. Touches a hint of sweet caramel with almost clove like hinting sensations. Excellent mouthfeel touching a little bit of caramel body but also light without being wet. Hop angle is very buried but flirts just a hair herbal but stays out of the way.

Really well crafted lager here.
