Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Release 2026.
Thick and even filled light mocha colored head. Capped with island moat top as it settles and big staying power. Thick amounts of ring lace and a body color with burnt brown and reddish tinged hues. Clear enough to see rapid carbonation as well that is plentiful.
Real nice aroma. Nice fruited hits of grapefruit mixing in dark malts that touch coffee notes and some faint bitter chocolate. Dry and mixing pine and woody tones as well for a great hop profile.
Palate hits nicely. Milky like texture but manage to not get to weak or wet. Sharp hop profile notes of muted citrus grapefruit and a finish that pulls out black licorice, wood, anise, and an excellent coffee angle. More fruited citrus tones in the mid palate with repeated sips, almost a dark orange chocolate flavor as well which is very nice.
Great to be having another solid Black IPA again. Wish there were more of these.
