Brewed 10/2013; Bottled 4/2014

Presented to me by Ron himself at the end of a summer evening event on the side patio at City Steam a few years ago. I hesitated to open it since it's no longer available, and since it's a waning sign of Ron's presence at the brewery now that he's retired. But since all good things must eventually come to an end, and since I'd rather enjoy it while it (and I) still have some life left, it was finally time to crack this one.

The beer poured a clear copper color with an inch high head of off white firmly dimpled and thick foam full of slowly collapsing craters. Rich aroma of subtle malt, a bit grainy, a bit vinous, some alcohol notes rising up. Lots going on in the flavors rolling around - starting rich and malty with moderate hop bitterness, there's a subtle toffee sweetness with notes of vanilla, some bourbon, and some woody notes.

Even mouthfeel with moderate carbonation, smooth finish with some faint alcohol notes. That hefty ABV doesn't overpower. Good balance, really nice beer, a sipper for sure. Cheers Ron!

Excellent vanilla and oak notes, slightly sweet with a solid balanced base.

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into a snifter. The beer pours a beautiful clear amber with rich ruby highlights. Creamy beige head of 4 cm foams up with a gentle pour and fades to a sturdy surface layer and even thicker edge layer. Tightly packed lattice after each sip sticks to the glass.
Aroma is very fruity with peaches and cherries but also bready yeast and some vanilla. Very rich and sweet aroma actually reminds me of Careless Love a bit.
First sip reveals a very fine and gentle carbonation that rolls across my palate on each sip. Texture is very smooth and the beer is fairly light and easy to drink.
Flavor is similar to nose with some toffee and sweet malt which is also fairly fruity again. I get the vanilla again and no hops really on the flavor similar to the nose. There is just a little bit of booze on the finish after each swallow, otherwise the booze is well hidden.
This is an easy drinking brew that is complex and interesting, a well made brew that is worth buying a bottle of if you are visiting the pub in Hartford.

Limited release only available at City Steam in Hartford. I was very impressed with Mr. Page's first release and looked forward to trying this one.

Appearance - poured into an Ommegang tulip glass. Two fingers of creamy off-white head. Color was caramel with a very nice lacing left on the glass.

Smell - apricot and vanilla on the nose.

Taste - malty sweetness. Hints of toffee, vanilla, and spices. A lot of malt and low on hops, but somehow balanced well enough to mask the high ABV.

Mouthfeel - nice chewiness with a bit of dryness at the end probably due to the aging process on toasted oak.

Overall - very impressed with this beer. It is limited to only 75 cases, and I hope to get my hands on more of it before it's gone!
