On tap at City Steam on 6/13/11. Looks like this is out of retirement.
A - Looks like freshly squeezed orange juice with a pillow of bright white foam on top that reduced to a thin ring of retention and white film with some delicate lacing on the glass.
S - Nose doesn't foretell much, I'm afraid. Doesn't remind me of a West Coast wheat. Instead, the presumed hops are replaced by wheaty, bready malt with a hint of coriander and clove spice.
T - Flavor elicits a citrusy (especially orange) character with a bready wheat malt base. Finishes with light hop bitterness, some orange zest zing and hint of spiciness.
M - Medium bodied with a chewy texture and modest carbonation, resulting in a only hint of bristle on the tongue. Finishes with mild spicy bitterness and residual sweetness on the palate.
D - While the nose could have been more aromatic, this was still a pleasant enough brew. Not overly hoppy, but not boring either. I enjoyed the orange and spicy characteristics, which gave this beer a bit more deviation from a classic Hefeweizen.

A - this hefe is a golden wheat color, as expected, crowned by a thin white head and also quite hazy
S - the first notes I recognize are grassy yeasty notes, this backdrop is aided by a small spice note and accented by some lemon zest
T - the flavors hit me in the reverse order, the citrus, lemon/orange zest is up front followed by the cloud of grassiness and yeastiness
M&D - light and effervescent, fruity and crisp and refreshing, nice flavor additions, not too complex or overcomplicated, a tasty brew
